JOB TITLE: Field Case Manager (1099) -Albany, NY (Bilingual Preferred)

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The IMA Group is looking for an Experienced Field Case Manager to coordinate medical treatment for patients who have incurred on the job injuries. This will include but not limited to assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of injured workers. The Case Manager works with insurance carriers, medical care providers, attorneys, employers, and employees, and closely monitors the progress of the injured worker and reports results back to the employer and insurance carriers. The case manager works to ensure the injured individual receives the best medical care possible and facilitates a safe and timely return-to-work. This will be a CONTRACT POSITION (1099).     

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Provides medical case management to individuals through coordination with the patient, the physician, other health care providers, the employer, and the referral source. 
  • Evaluate patient's treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate Independent Medical Evaluations and/or perform job site evaluations/summaries to facilitate case management process.
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient's progress. 
  • Ability to utilize their medical and nursing knowledge to allow the case manager to discuss the current treatment plan with the physician and discuss alternate treatment plans.
  • Ability to make medical recommendations of available treatment plans to the payer.
  • Ability to make independent medical decisions and recommendations to all parties.
  • Devise cost-effective strategies for medical care. 
  • Independently manage workload, including prioritizing cases and deciding how best to manage cases effectively.
  • Required to prepare organized reports within a specified timeframe. 
  • Complete other duties, such as attending injured worker’s appointments when appropriate, prepare status updates for submittal to customers, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:     

  • Must have Malpractice Liability Insurance (or obtain it)
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience of Workers Compensation Case Management
  • Excellent PC and technology skills
  • Must be an RN
  • Must have flexible schedule to accept cases & familiar with contract (1099) work.
  • Bilingual is preferred
  • Must have own computer & phone.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to and attend in-person appointments with injured workers in assigned geography.
