Quality Control Technician

A Plastics Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of plastic products or components throughout the manufacturing process. They play a crucial role in the plastics industry, conducting inspections, tests, and measurements to identify and resolve quality issues, and ensuring that products meet established standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual inspections of plastic products or components at various stages of the manufacturing process to identify any defects, inconsistencies, or non-conformities.
  • Perform dimensional measurements using calipers, micrometers, or other measuring tools to verify product accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform functional or performance tests on plastic parts or finished products to ensure they meet required standards and functionality.
  • Follow established inspection procedures, checklists, or work instructions to perform accurate and consistent inspections.
  • Record and document inspection results, including any defects or non-compliance identified, using appropriate forms, reports, or databases.
  • Monitor and assess production processes related to plastics manufacturing, such as injection molding, extrusion, or thermoforming, to identify potential quality issues or process variations.
  • Collect and analyze data, such as process parameters, material characteristics, or machine settings, to assess process stability and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with production personnel, engineers, or supervisors to implement corrective actions or process adjustments to improve product quality and consistency.
  • Collect representative samples of plastic materials, resins, or products for laboratory testing or analysis.
  • Perform various tests, such as tensile strength, impact resistance, hardness, or color matching, using specialized equipment or testing methods.
  • Evaluate test results against established specifications or industry standards to determine compliance and identify any deviations or issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of testing protocols, procedures, or specifications to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality control activities, including inspection results, test data, or any quality-related incidents.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in plastics technology, quality assurance, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in quality control or inspection roles within the plastics manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of plastics materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Familiarity with measurement tools and instruments used in quality inspection, such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, or quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) principles and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and analyze quality issues.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and data entry for documentation and reporting purposes.
Benefits/Compensation
  • Full Time (8, 10 & 12 hours shifts)
  • Pay rate is $10-12.50 per hour
  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift available
  • Weekly pay while employed through Career Concepts
  • Benefits available while employed through Career Concepts
  • Temp-To-Hire
  • Benefits available after probation.
