A Day In The Life: The Sr Cloud Engineer role is responsible for overall governance, availability, and deployments across Hertz’s database systems: on-premises and in the cloud. This role acts as a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration tasks. Daily activities include but are not limited to solution architecture, infrastructure monitoring, incident response, and automated infrastructure and application deployments across all software development lifecycles. This role has a direct impact on financial performance through application availability, compliance, and innovation. What You'll Do: To manage highly available and scalable on-prem Oracle/MySQL/DB2 databases, AWS RDS MySQL/PostgreSQL/Aurora MySQL/ Aurora PostgreSQL Database on AWS Experience with database migrations to AWS Cloud Design highly available (HA) and scalable database solutions and advocate best practices across on-prem and AWS Cloud. Design and implement DR solutions for large-scale database systems. Collaborate with architecture, engineering, support, and teams in designing, deploying, and database solutions. Design, deploy and support databases on Ec2, AWS RDS and VMware platform. Develop and Support HA/DR solutions for SQL Server, and Oracle Databases in a hybrid environment. Automation of Day-to-day administration and Database Maintenance in the Cloud/or on-premises. Design and execute large-scale database patching, upgrades, and migrations including OnPrem and in Cloud Define and manage best practices around database security and help to ensure security and compliance across all database systems Providing on-call support for production database systems Continues improvement and automation as much as possible. Communicate clearly and regularly with project teams and management. Mentor team and build cloud knowledge within the team and drive for team success. What We're Looking For: Candidate should possess hands-on experience in working on some of the relational and non-relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/PostgreSQL/MySQL) on AWS and/or on-prem infrastructure. Experience in deploying databases(on-prem/AWS) and production support with performance tuning and root cause analysis is critical. Min 8-10 of the overall experience. 3+ years’ Experience with AWS Services like AWS RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3, DMS, AWS Backups, and DynamoDB. 3+ years’ Experience with the Design and deployment of Amazon Machine Images (AMI) for Database. 8+ Oracle experience in Production Environment: Install, Configure, Patch, Upgrade, and Support databases in Production. 6+ SQL Server experience in Production Environment: Install, Configure, Patch, Upgrade, and Support databases in Production. 5+ Db2 experience in a Production Environment: Install, Configure, Patch, Upgrade, and Support databases in Production, knowledge with qrep. Experience with AWS Cloud Service Provider Architecture deployment use cases and best practices. Oracle DataPump and RMAN: Backup and Recovery. 5+ years’ Oracle Golden Gate Replication: Install, Configure, Upgrade, Support, & Troubleshoot. 5+ years’ SQL server Always-On: Install, Configure, Upgrade, Support, & Troubleshoot. UNIX / Linux OS Performance tuning. SQL, Shell Scripting. Experience in database migrations from on-prem to AWS Cloud, replication technologies like Oracle Golden Gate/HVR Agile methodology and skill, including experience with Scrum Ceremonies and work management tools (e.g., (JIRA, Confluence). Work as a cross-functional team member to support multiple work streams and products. Excellent Communication Skills. Should be able to support On-Call rotation. Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, and or equivalent work experience. AWS Certification -Database, AWS Certified Solutions Architect. SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional. We expect the starting salary to be around $80,000 to $110,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility.
