Senior Civil/Structural Engineer for Substation Projects
Join Leidos Engineering, a leader in cutting-edge energy technologies and independent oversight, as we provide exceptional service to publicly- and privately-owned utilities, financial institutions, and local governments. We are currently seeking a talented Licensed Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with over 6 years of experience in utility consulting and design engineering.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust educational background focused on the design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations. Experience in reviewing substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls is essential. The role will primarily involve conducting design reviews of these civil/structural components in support of bid and construction packages for substation projects.
As a senior engineer, you will be pivotal in mentoring junior staff members, contributing to bids and proposals, and taking on a responsible engineer role in main client projects. You will oversee project work to ensure top-notch quality control on design packages. This role will involve site visits to client substation facilities and may require occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events. We value strong client relations, and experience in client-facing operations, like lunches and kick-off meetings, is preferred. Compliance with quality control and safe work practices is a must, as you will help maintain the project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. You will be a senior member of a collaborative design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.
This position will ideally be staffed at the Leidos office in Walled Lake, MI. We are open to hybrid or fully remote work arrangements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering - Required
- PE Licensure - Required
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MATHCAD software - Required
- Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPILE software - Required
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation - Required
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with excellent communication skills for engaging with clients and staff
- Willingness to travel up to 25%

Pay Range: Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
