AI Engineer

YOUR ROLE:
As an AI Engineer on the IT Emerging Technology Team, you will be instrumental in leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotic process automation (RPA) to help drive business transformation at Promega. You will work closely with advanced AI frameworks like OpenAI and Copilot, developing and deploying solutions that enhance the efficiency of daily operations and introduce new methods for optimizing core business processes. This role will require collaboration with various teams-including Operations, Administration, Research & Development, and Sales & Marketing-to apply innovative AI technologies that support Promega's continued growth and leadership in technology-driven innovation.
**While this role offers the flexibility to work remotely part of the time, we expect candidates who are currently not local to relocate to the Madison area.
CORE DUTIES:
1. OpenAI & Copilot Development: Utilize OpenAI and Copilot Studio to design, code/build, debug, deploy, and maintain GPTs and Copilots that drive efficiency and innovation within the organization.
2. AI Model Development: Design, develop, and implement AI models, algorithms, and systems to solve complex problems in business.
3. Machine Learning Integration: Collaborate with data scientists and other engineers to integrate machine learning models into broader system architectures, ensuring scalability and performance.
4. Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Develop RPA solutions to automate repetitive tasks and optimize business processes, enhancing operational efficiency.
5. Work to stay ahead of industry trends, exploring AI, ML and RPA solutions for development and management of a more complex and in-depth expansion at Promega that aligns with Promega's strategic goals.
6. Data Management: Work closely with data management and infrastructure team members to ensure data flow is optimized and optimal infrastructure is in place for effective AI deployment.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with team members that include other AI experts and data scientists and across various department's technical innovators, to align AI initiatives with business objectives.
8. Continuous Learning and Teaching: Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and automation technologies. Train and encourage Promega team members on emerging technology advances; advocate for their application to improve existing processes.
9. Work in partnership with other AI experts, data scientists and technical innovators across the enterprise.

12. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in application development.
3. Experience with GenAI and RPA technologies including proficiency in Python, R, Microsoft languages and Microsoft Power Platform tools.
4. Experience with LLMs (GPT 3.5, GPT 4) including prompt development.
5. Experience working in Azure and with Azure OpenAI
6. Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and data structures.
7. Strong problem-solving and technical efficiency skills.
8. High enthusiasm for new technologies and their application across a diverse range of business processes.
9. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
10. Ability to interact with business users and understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
11. Experience with educating non-technical team members in technology tools and concepts.
12. Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in a business environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Experience in Machine Learning algorithms and hands-on experience with ML toolkits
3. SQL Database experience
4. Experience with Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, etc.
5. Familiarity with ISO certification 27001 and 42001
6. Experience working in a hybrid Agile work structure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
2. Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
3. Ability to traverse between different locations within the company premises.
