NATURE OF WORK: This is manual and some semi-skilled work in the care, cleaning and maintenance of the Auditorium, Sports Complexes and other Park District properties. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Lead Auditorium Technician or other designated supervisor. Guidance and assistance may be given to seasonal workers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK (MAY NOT INCLUDE ALL OF THE DUTIES PERFORMED):
  • Performs rough carpentry work, such as installing paneling, cabinets, drywall, flooring, framing, and shelves in public buildings and facilities.
  • Prepares and paints walls, floors, ceilings; builds shelves, bulletin boards, display cases and the like; repairs desks, tables & chairs.
  • Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment in grounds and building maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
  • Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs and polishes floors; shampoos carpets; wash windows and walls and moves furniture and equipment.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies.
  • Replaces light bulbs; lifts and empties heavy containers into compactor.
  • Cleans and polishes brass and other metal fixtures.
  • Closes and locks buildings; opens and secures buildings.
  • Maintains lawns, sidewalks, and parking areas; shovels snow and removes debris and trash; operates hand and power mowers, snow removal equipment, and other related equipment.
  • Load, unload, set and take down tables, chairs, booth equipment and related equipment.
  • Operates light and medium equipment on an incidental basis.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • May include working shifts in other Park District facilities or complexes.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
  • Some knowledge of practices, tools and equipment associated with more than one trade such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and others.
  • Some knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the care and cleaning of buildings and grounds.
  • Some knowledge of motorized equipment operation.
  • Some knowledge in the application of practices, techniques and equipment used in the custodial field.
  • Ability to use and operate hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to less experienced employees.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of climate.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

DESIRED MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate and experience in a variety of trades or construction work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid North Dakota driver's license.
