Assistant Professor I, Graduate Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary:
The Assistant Professor l, Graduate Nurse Practitioner Program facilitates distance education instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the college. The incumbent will be accountable for the delivery of the nursing curriculum in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and purposes of the Program. The Assistant Professor l, Nurse Practitioner will engage with learners in all of the nursing education process including evaluating the potential for successful achievement in the program and is accountable for Nursing Education Services successful attainment of key performance indicators, program and functional outcomes, and the success of the College's mission.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Administers examinations, grading, and conducts competency evaluations.
- Maintains accurate attendance and performance records of learners and submits required reports according to published deadlines.
- Maintains proficiency in online delivery of nursing education and competence in subjects being taught.
- Maintains open communication with learners.
- Contributes to the admission process for the NP program by participating in the NP Admissions and Progression Committee to engage in shared decision-making.
- Collaborates in the development and revision of curriculum by participating in the NP Curriculum Committee, and Graduate Committee.
- Manages the selection of lectures and/or coordination of guest faculty.
- Maintains continuing education requirements outlined by the College and credentialing bodies.
- Demonstrates doctoral professional standards through ongoing and continuous attendance at professional meetings, active engagement in state and/or national professional associations, active participation on program and College committees, maintenance of required continuing education credits, and scholarly activities.
- Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise.
- Responsible for facilitating in NP core, MSN Ed, and PMHNP specialty courses.
- Earned Doctoral degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution preferred.
- Active, unencumbered RN and NP license from state of residence and ability to obtain RN and NP licensure in any jurisdiction required by the College, including a valid multi-state license.
- MSN Ed, EDd, or similar education degree preferred.
- Current PMHNP certification
- Current NP certification for specific role population.
- Maintains clinical practice in area of role specialization.
- Maintains immunizations, NP licensure, and certification records as required by accreditation, facility, or state board of nursing.
- Demonstrated current knowledge of NP practice in role specialization, clinical content knowledge, and related professional issues as demonstrated by: (a) current clinical practice (b) use of evidence-based practice in instruction, in consultation with clinical experts as appropriate, and (c) participation in continuous professional development.
- Experience in teaching Advanced Practice Nurses preferred.
- Proficiency in at least one learning management system (LMS), Canvas preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), and other technology platforms related to the delivery of online nursing education.
- Ability, willingness, and availability to perform needed responsibilities throughout the three academic semesters each calendar year and travel as needed to locations within the US for two (2) weeks or ten (10) times per semester.
This position is required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for all travel and lodging accommodations.
