A Day in the Life of a Special Needs School Nurse

As a Special Needs School Health RN, you will:

  • Provide one-on-one care to medically fragile students in their classrooms and during transportation.

  • Assess children's health needs to develop tailored health plans.

  • Warmly interact with students, offering patience and kindness as they navigate their health challenges.

  • Administer medical interventions, first aid, and medications per school and PSI policies.

  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation.

  • Collaborate with educational professionals and promote healthy relationships among community health providers, students, and families.

  • Partner with families to navigate health challenges within the school environment.


What We're Looking For

  • Current RN License through the Ohio Board of Nursing (required).

  • Knowledge of communicable disease prevention and medication protocols.

  • Preferred experience in tube feeding, tracheostomy, and ventilator care, but not required.

  • Understanding of HIPAA laws and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor, with strong communication skills.
