What we are looking for:

As a Wildland Fire Supervisor you will supervise coordination of the necessary field activities to meet fire program objectives on the unit or district through cooperation with cooperators and local and federal agencies. This position supervises employees engaged in field activities accomplishing prevention, pre-suppression, suppression, and ensures maintenance of equipment and facilities to support accomplishment of program objectives. Supervision of employees in other programs as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching which includes one (1) year of leading/supervising the work of others;

OR
Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field and two (2) year of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching which includes one (1) year of leading/supervising the work of others.

Note: Some positions must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.

Note: Some positions are required to successfully take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the moderate level.

Desired Skills:
  • Excellent communicator both oral and written.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong experience in wildland fire suppression.
  • Experience coordinating and planning projects.
  • Strong leadership skills in wildland fire fighting.
  • Able to lead employees to success in a challenging and unique work environment.
  • Ability to provide training, guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of service, workforce diversity, team environment, and strong internal communication and alignment.
