HIRING RANGE: $23.15 - $24.54 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
This position serves as the primary contact for students and parents providing in-depth advising and resolutions in regards to financial aid eligibility. This position is responsible for interpreting financial aid regulations, analyzing student data, and implementing procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and delivery of financial aid. This position is responsible for managing one or more federal, state or military aid/benefit programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Professionally represent Joliet Junior College and uphold the College's core values.
2. Advise and assist students, parents, supporters, staff, and faculty concerning all aspects of financial aid/veterans via phone, email, and in person.
3. Process and monitor the aid/benefit program assigned to ensure awards and disbursements are correct and timely.
4. Perform verification and make necessary corrections to student financial aid applications to determine eligibility.
5. Demonstrate thorough understanding of awarding processes (i.e. packaging of grants, campus work-study, direct loans, and scholarships). Demonstrate ability to adjust aid due to a change in the student's eligibility and effectively and professionally communicate reasons for adjustment.
6. Maintain a thorough understanding of institutional, federal and state financial aid regulations and policies.
7. Review documents submitted by students and parents to determine eligibility.
8. Conduct financial aid workshops, new student orientation presentations, loan groups for new borrowers, and assigned financial aid activities.
9. Understand, utilize, and speak competently about reports generated for maintenance and reconciliation of federal and state aid programs.
10. Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders with regard to financial aid issues.
11. Regularly attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and professional conferences. Complete professional development courses as assigned, and demonstrate success with related assessments.
12. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and protect student information in compliance with FERPA and HEA laws.
13. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate's degree.
2. Two (2) years of professional financial aid work experience.
3. Time management, attention to detail, problem solving, and multitasking abilities.
4. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
5. A thorough and working knowledge of Title IV programs, funding and need analysis.
6. Extensive personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Ability to work extended evening and weekend hours at peak times of the year.
8. Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, public, and other community agencies.
9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
10. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Workday system.
3. Experience in a community college setting.
4. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
5. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations, to community events, and to both in-state and out-of-state training.
