RK&K's Construction Engineering Inspection and Construction Management Division is hiring entry to mid-level Construction Inspectors in and around the Richmond, VA area. As a Construction Inspector with RK&K you will apply your knowledge of construction, safety, quality, and materials to provide critical inspection services on heavy civil construction sites. Including highway, bridge, design/design-build projects. Opportunities for growth and training into team leadership, construction management, and office engineering careers.

Essential Function

  • Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of construction structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
  • Monitor the activities of other Inspectors
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
  • Recordkeeping and reporting as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to state highway projects and facilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently on small construction projects
  • Ability to pass Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
  • Acceptable driving record
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Inspection experience including roadway, asphalt, concrete, pavement markings, structure and bridge construction methods
  • VDOT and other local public agency experience desired
  • VDOT Material Certifications are a plus (Asphalt, Concrete, Pavement Marking, Soils, Intermediate Traffic Control Certified,etc.)
  • Associate or bachelor's in engineering or similar field of study
