REPORTS TO: School Principal and Special Education Dean
District-wide position with the potential to support students grades preschool-12, determined based on applicants' skillset and district needs
JOB GOAL: To assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language development, cognitive communication, voice, swallowing and fluency in students.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provide an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for providing speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success, while working with staff and parent/guardians
QUALIFICATIONS: The Speech and Language Pathologist will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of New Hampshire authority. In accordance with license requirements and the performances expectations of the Raymond School District, all Speech and Language Pathologist shall meet the following employment criteria.
- The minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university unless Provisional License is issued
- A valid New Hampshire License or Provisional License from the New Hampshire Office of Allied Health Professionals
- A completed credential file that meets Raymond School District's standards.
- Professional verification of successful Speech and Language Pathology performance and/or student experience Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the New Hampshire State Board of Education.
- Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the New Hampshire Office of Allied Health Professionals
- Interview/file data will include evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and verification of the demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for youth.
- Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: All School employees shall set examples that are an important part of the educational process. Their manner, dress, courtesy, and attitudes establish models that affect the development of young people. The Board expects its staff members to set exemplary standards, as well as provide exemplary instruction.

- Maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Implements useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.
- Selects and uses effective instructional methods and learning materials
- Establishes a cooperative relationship with all assigned students
- Maintains open lines of communication with parent/guardians.
- Engages in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development
- Works collaboratively with colleagues and administration to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be implemented or established by the School Board or administration
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate a competence at transmitting learning to the student and the manner and means of accumulating, assimilating, and evaluating the knowledge associated with hers/her academic field.
- Demonstrate an awareness of other academic field and should possess a reasonable and responsible attitude toward the education of the whole child
- Be constantly alert to the example presented to students, parents, community, and fellow workers, striving to consistently exemplify the good. Relationships shall avoid personal attachments that detract from the obligation to constantly lead and critically evaluate the individual and the situation
- Be aware of various instructional trends and participate in exploration of possible changes in method or content of instruction
- Demonstrate an ability to control the situations encountered in the performance of duties while exhibiting the proper respect for the dignity and growth of each individual
- Demonstrate the ability to define the objectives of instruction and the ability to assess the results of the efficiency and effectiveness of the instruction
- Administers formal and informal assessment and coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, etc.)
- Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
- Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel
- Collaborates with classroom teachers in the management of speech-language disorders.
- Consults/communicates with non-school agencies and gather information from outside sources when appropriate
- Develop treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials in compliance State laws and Raymond School District policies
- Develops appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths & needs.
- Maintains accurate documentation for all eligible students and the speech and language program according to State Laws and Raymond School District policies
- Prepares periodic reports as required
- Provide training as necessary to eligible students and to the staff and parent/guardians (if applicable) of the use of communication technologies
- Performs site visits at multiple work sites including home visits if necessary
