MedStar Health is looking for an Emergency Room Discharge Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
As an Emergency Room Discharge Coordinator, you will be r esponsible for the coordination of patient care and access to services, provides materials and serves as a liaison with members of the patient's health care team as well as provides administrative support to the department physicians. Functions as a patient advocate, guides patients and families throughout the process .

Primary Duties:
- Serves as navigator for patient and family members through coordinating care with all members of the healthcare team including physicians, clinic support staff and other members of the healthcare team.
- Coordinates patient's appointments including office, specialists, testing, pre-operative, post- operative and surgical appointments. Functions as a liaison between patients, families, health care team and community resources. Advocates for identifyin g and eliminatin g barriers to care.
- Handles referral calls to ensure streamlined access to care. Ensures patient referral process for specialty services is coordinated, anticipating patient and family needs throughout the process.
- Provides clerical and administrative support to physicians including answering the telephones, relaying messages, and transmitting information to the appropriate personnel . Composes and types the correspondence of various clinical and non-clinical documents. Manage physician's calendar and coordinates meetings, etc.
- Schedules surgical cases and admissions for the department. Communicates posting information to physician, nurse and administrative staff within the department, as appropriate . Communicates scheduling information, including information regarding surgical schedule, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital facilities, policies and instructions to patients and families.
- Associates degree .
- 1-2 years' experience in a medical clinical office as a Patient Registration Associate or Administrative Assistant .
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
