Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As the Registered Nurse TB Case Manager, you will be part of a team of RNs, LPNs, and MAs in managing patients who are presently diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for active TB Disease. We will count on you to manage patients who have been diagnosed and are undergoing treatment for active TB Disease or Latent TB Infection.

We Require

  • Valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state

We Also Value

  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient, home care, infectious or pulmonary disease setting, or public health environment

  • Experience working with patients from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, including unhoused populations

  • Experience providing medical treatment for tuberculosis patients, to patients with infectious diseases, or to those with substance abuse disorders

  • Bilingual in EnglisSpanish or other non-English languages

Job Contributions

  • Provide medical care and treatment to patients with active TB Disease and latent TB infection

  • Complete accurate and complete medical record documentation

  • Manage day-to-day case management of patients being treated for active and latent tuberculosis, including medication administration, directly observed therapy, treatment plans and guidelines, patient incentives, and treatment completion

  • Knowledge of and ongoing education on tuberculosis infection, disease, and medications, including the epidemiological process and frequent comorbidities

  • Skillfully interact with patients and their families to enhance education of the disease process and motivation to ensure compliance with the plan of care

  • Communicate effectively with TB providers to receive and execute all orders for patients

  • Excellent oral and written communication with patients, within the team, and to the greater community

  • Collect all labs including blood, sputum, and urine; process and review results

Working Conditions

  • Work occurs in a clinical setting including exam rooms, phlebotomy and sputum stations, and offices

  • Requires sitting, standing, and walking between various areas of the clinic

  • Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency

  • Travel by car to do field work may be required

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

  • Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test

  • Annual tuberculosis testing will be required and will be provided to all employees working with this population
