Position Summary:
The Substitute School Nurse is responsible for providing basic health services to students and staff, maintaining a safe and healthy school environment, and ensuring compliance with state health regulations. The substitute nurse will step in when the regular school nurse is unavailable, and will perform all duties necessary to support the health and well-being of the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Services:
- Provide first aid and care for minor injuries and illnesses.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records.
- Assess and triage students who exhibit health concerns.
- Health Education:
- Provide health education to students and staff as needed.
- Promote healthy behaviors and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate health records for students.
- Report any health issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student health needs.
- Assist in health screenings and assessments.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Respond to medical emergencies in accordance with school protocols.
- Participate in emergency drills and training sessions.
Qualifications:
