Command, Control, Intelligence, and Encryption (C2I&E)

By joining our Command, Control, Intelligence, and Encryption (C2I&E) business, you will be a member of a team dedicated to providing innovative solutions that streamline the preparation and execution of intricate, mission-critical operations. We focus on enhancing situational awareness, tactical command and control, and seamless video data exchange capabilities within a dynamic, multi-domain environment.

Job Description Join us in Tampa, FL, as Lead Firmware Engineer, driving cutting-edge firmware development for embedded cryptographic programs. Your expertise will shape the architecture, optimize power, and select components crucial for securing military communications. As the technical lead, you'll pioneer embedded algorithms, drivers, and interfaces vital to our programs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead firmware architecture, design, and guidance for projects.
  • Interface with customers during milestone reviews and formal testing events.
  • Design, develop, and conduct trade studies in power design optimization and FPGA/SoC component selection for embedded systems.
  • Support technical proposal development and engineering effort estimations.
  • Develop embedded algorithms and functions.
  • Create and maintain custom and legacy interfaces.
  • Develop device drivers for hardware components.
  • Author engineering documents to support contracts, including SHRS, IRS, ICDs, and SHDD.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team (hardware, software, systems, electrical, and mechanical).
  • Conduct engineering research and design development in line with customer specifications.
  • Define and execute unit, integration, and acceptance test plans and procedures.
  • Verify and validate hardware designs.
  • Participate in process/tool improvements and drive quality metrics.
  • Provide regular progress updates, both written and oral.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers.
  • Stay updated on new technologies that can benefit projects and the business.
  • Align team objectives and tasks with business priorities and company vision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active or recently active (within the past 24 months) US government security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Digital design and VHDL
    • Embedded processors and SoC development
    • Integration with FPGA/SoC-based systems
    • Digital signal processing for FPGA/SoC devices

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq and/or UltraScale+ SoCs and related toolchains.
  • Expertise in FPGA timing constraints and timing closure.
  • Knowledge of software programming and integration with firmware.
  • Experience with C programming language.
  • Background in Security Design/Information Assurance.
  • Understanding of NSA Type 1 Certification process.
  • Experience with US DoD cryptographic products and systems.
  • Knowledge of network administration and setup.
  • Embedded systems design experience with Microblaze, Nios, or ARM processors.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages and automated test setups (e.g., TCL, batch scripts).
  • Strong configuration management and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and representatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify repeatable failure modes, root causes, and implement solutions.
