Description:

Reports to: Program Coordinator

OVERVIEW

Voices of Hope - Lexington, Inc. is a non-profit Recovery Community Organization that was founded by people who are in or have been affected by substance abuse disorder. We are radically inclusive of all pathways of recovery, reducing stigma when and wherever possible, and demonstrating recovery is possible for everyone. We value diversity and inclusion of all people, including those belonging to traditionally marginalized groups, through our recovery services and employment opportunities. Our highly trained staff are leading the forefront of recovery in the state of Kentucky, working at a Recovery Community Center in Lexington and in conjunction with over 80 detention centers, hospitals, courtrooms, and other partner agencies.

The Recovery Coach supports others in recovery from substance use disorder. They serve as role models, mentors, advocates, and motivators to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Recovery Coach shares their personal recovery experiences, demonstrates to others that recovery is possible, develops authentic peer-to-peer relationships, and works with others to support their recovery goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide recovery education to participants for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.

  • Promote self-advocacy by assisting recovering persons to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point of rehabilitation services.
  • Promote linkage and retention of participants using Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) as a recovery pathway.
  • Use numerous resources to encourage continuation of recovery including community partners, substance use disorder treatment websites, barrier relief opportunities, and other recovery support services.
  • Monitor participant progress even after discharge from partner agencies to prevent treatment interruption and continue services.
  • Maintain project logs, reports, and records in appropriate files and databases to meet funding reporting requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
  • Model the possibilities of recovery to a diverse population, including those in traditionally marginalized groups, by sharing your story and being a positive influence.
