Summary of Job Functions:

The Behavioral Health Clinical Associate provides support for individuals to assist them in pursuing goals related to community activities, social interactions, essential life skills, and personal hygiene tasks. This position may work independently but maintains close contact with the assigned supervisor and the team. The job atmosphere is based on the individual’s needs. The worksite for this job may be in a private home, agency facility, or community setting.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Accurately completes note entry and/or other documentation of the individual’s programs and progress with proper format, spelling, grammar, and using all parts of speech by established timeline.
  • Promotes and implements support in accordance with each individual’s Treatment Plan as well as The Arc’s Mission Statement and Value Guiding Service Principles.
  • Use personal vehicle daily to provide one on one services to supported individuals (ex. Medical appointments, community resources, working on treatment plan goals, etc.).
  • Refers individuals to appropriate community services and assists individuals in applying for and appropriately using community services.
  • Assists with the individual and team in the individual planning process
  • Adheres to all policy and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other departmental procedure manuals.
  • Assures completion and processing of required documentation in the required timeframe for each individual supported (ex. EVS checks, service notes, etc.).
  • Actively participates in all required training, in-services, and staff meetings.
  • Facilitate team meetings.
  • Works closely with Case Managers, Team Leaders, clinicians, guardians, family, care coordinators, and director to assess the progress, concerns, and needs of each individual supported.
  • Understands and follows procedures for being a mandated reporter.
  • Ability to gather all information necessary to make appropriate decisions independently.
  • Ability to assist individuals either one on one or in small groups toward making progress on their goals.
  • Have use of a personal vehicle with proper insurance during work hours.
  • Responsible for sharing in an on-call system to provide support to direct care staff and individuals receiving services.
  • Assists with selecting, scheduling, training, and mentoring new staff.
  • Maintains 80% of billable time.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Health Science, Social Science, Psychology, or related field and/or three (3) years of experience working with or having direct life experience with people who experience mental illness.
Required Licenses, Clearances & Training:
  • Background checks as defined by licensing agencies
  • Current TB test/clearance
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Clean driving record
  • Pass mandatory agency training (i.e., CPR, Mandt, Programs)
  • Completed all departmental training
Equipment Used:
  • Personal Vehicle
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other office-related devices.
  • Basic computer use and experience with Microsoft Office
Working Conditions:
  • Required to drive in the community with individuals served
  • Required to perform duties in the community
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work
  • Standing and moving for extended periods of time
  • Communication skills using the English spoken word
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within normal range
