Summary: Join our team at Omaha Public Power District, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our energy systems. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for performing advanced maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of protective relaying, control, and automation systems. Your expertise will support the smooth operation of our generating, transmission, and distribution systems, contributing to the continuous delivery of power to our customers. Responsibilities: Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair protective relays, control equipment and associated devices under the direct supervision of a Senior or 1st Class Relay Specialist. Review prints and records to prepare cutover procedures on new installation or revisions to existing protection and control schemes. Conduct and evaluate functional tests of the protection and control schemes and associated devices. Troubleshoot, analyze and determine the cause of anomalies within protection and supervisory control schemes. Initiate corrective action as necessary. Perform all work in a manner which complies with the District¿s Safety Manual, the Hold Order System, The Personal Protective Grounding Manual, Standards and Practices. Qualifications Required: Two years of formal education in electronics and/or electrical theory, or equivalent knowledge and experience. Valid driver license Able to use a wide range of technically sophisticated equipment and be flexible and adaptable to new technology, especially in the areas of personal computer hardware, software and substation automation equipment. Accurate and able to exercise excellent judgment due to the critical nature of the protection and control system. Willing to report directly to job site or Elkhorn facility. Communicate openly, be personally accountable, be customer oriented, be respectful in interaction all with the expectation that you will progress to Senior Relay Specialist to be a future leader that produces results.
