Position Summary:

The Lead Project Management Specialist is responsible for providing a consistent standard of quality in PMO operations across the organization. In this role, reporting to the VP of Project Management, the candidate will play a critical role in setting and continuously improving PMO standards, ensuring those standards are met, and implementing and integrating technology into PMO operations.

Essential Functions:

Standards and Oversight

  • Establish and promote PMO and project management, templates, and guidelines in coordination with PMO leaders to ensure consistency and quality across projects
  • Ensure PMO processes and guidelines incorporate policies and requirements from other areas of the organization
  • Ensure that PMO process align to the Corporate SDLC Policy and that the PMO is following SDLC best practices
  • Adjust PMO practices and standards based on industry best practices and/or changes in tool capabilities
  • Monitor and evaluate project manager performance against established standards and metrics and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers and teams in the application of project management methodologies and tools
Training and Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct project management training and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of project managers and team members
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in project management methodologies and tools and recommend innovative approaches to enhance project delivery
PMO Tool and Reporting Facilitation
  • Lead the evaluation, execution and implementation of program and project management tools, systems, processes and resources, driving continued use, improvement and maturation of best practice in line with PMO standards
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standardized project management dashboards and other reports to provide visibility into project status and performance
  • Establish measurable KPIs to enable executive reporting of portfolio status
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Agile experience preferred
  • Experience with creating and managing PMO standards; working within a COE preferred
  • Experience with and successfully managed business transformation programs and/or IT development
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate interpersonally with individuals and groups as well as strong client and stakeholder management skills
