The Role The Shuttle Driver will be responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical appointments, social outings, and other activities. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual with excellent driving skills and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. We are recruiting for a full-time and part-time position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ability to drive various types of vehicles, both large and small, to transport residents.
- Ability to perform under varying weather conditions.
- Assists residents in and out of vehicles.
- Operate wheelchair lift device when necessary to board and deboard passengers; ensures that wheelchair brakes are locked while lift is in motion, positioning wheelchairs in vehicle, and securing them to vehicle.
- Assist residents with loading and unloading their baggage in a safe and effective manner.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to coordinate schedules and transportation needs.
- Provide courteous and respectful assistance to residents, addressing any inquiries or concerns professionally.
- Assist residents with loading and unloading their walkers, wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of residents and the public.
- Assist with routine vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid California driver's license.
- Requires five years of driving experience.
- A clean driving record, without any accidents, points or moving violations in the past three years. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Prior experience as a professional driver, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting.
- Prior experience using wheelchair lift to assist residents with boarding and deboarding.
- Familiar with local road/freeway systems.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with a commitment to providing exceptional care to residents.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, if required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to reach, stoop and bend to position and secure residents in vehicle.
- Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Good physical condition with the ability to assist residents with mobility needs.
Enso Village is committed to equal pay and transparency. The salary range for this position is $22.00 -$25.00 per hour. This range provided as a general guideline and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, external non-profit market data, and business considerations.
