Job Details

The Opportunity

Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, one of the first cancer centers to receive comprehensive designation from the National Cancer Institute, seeks an accomplished breast medical oncologist and leader to serve as Chief of Breast Oncology.

The Organization

Fox Chase Cancer Center was established in 1974 through the merger of the American Oncologic Hospital, founded in 1904 as one of the country's first cancer-focused hospitals, and the Institute for Cancer Research, founded in 1927. One of the nation's first cancer hospitals,Fox Chase is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, with a mission is "to prevail over cancer, marshaling heart and mind in bold scientific discovery, pioneering prevention, and compassionate care."

Fox Chase joined Temple University Health System in 2012, a relationship which has furtherexpanded research and treatment expertise throughout the region. With a catchment area of nearly 7.3 million people across six counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and nine counties in southern New Jersey, Fox Chase diagnoses and treats every kind of cancer and offers patients state-of-the-art and best practice treatments as well as clinical trials to cure their cancer.

With a staff of over 2,000, the center provides both patient care and research in more than 80 laboratories, staffed by hundreds of physicians and scientists. The affiliation with Temple University has added value to the cancer center with the addition of 50 research program members from multiple university departments, the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, and the College of Public Health

Researchers at Fox Chase have won the highest awards in their fields, including two Nobel Prizes, a Kyoto Prize in basic sciences, a Lasker Clinical Research Award, an Albert Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research, American Cancer Society Medals of Honor, memberships in the National Academy of Sciences, and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Today, scientific initiatives span a broad array of nationally competitive basic, translational, and clinical research, with special programs in cancer prevention, detection, survivorship, and community outreach. Fox Chase physicians are routinely recognized in national rankings, and the Center's nursing program has received the Magnet status for excellence six consecutive times.
