SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

The Educational Audiologist at IPS works in collaboration with unified Student Supports leadership to provide audiology services to students identified as needing audiological Related Services, attend case conferences as needed, conduct audiological exams, and provide hearing screen support to the Health Services Director.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Audiology Services to Deaf/Hard of hearing (DHH) students

Provide diagnostic hearing evaluations and required hearing checks in the sound booth at the IPS Audiology Center

Facilitate communication with outside audiologists and physicians for students with hearing difficulties

Develop and maintain procedures for the Audiology program

Maintain calibration and functionality of audiology equipment

Maintain inventory of audiology equipment and make recommendations regarding ongoing updates to the inventory

Train DHH teachers on use of audiology equipment and troubleshoot any problems

Provide ongoing support and expertise to Speech-Language Pathologists

Recommend and support professional development for the Speech-Language Pathologist

team

Coordinate with the Health Services Director and Information technology to complete state-mandated hearing screenings and to develop and maintain hearing screening data management protocols

Other duties as assigned by the office of Unified Student Supports

"Day In the Life" Overview

On a regular day, as the Audiologist, you might:

Assess a student's hearing

Repair a student's hearing device

Assist in making a student's personal hearing device compatible with the school's system

Attend case conferences to talk about a student's audiological needs and help plan for their success

Complete hearing screenings on students who have failed the state-mandated hearing screening

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Doctorate of Audiology or a Masters plus 75 hours in Audiology coursework

Licensure by the Indiana Professional Licensing Board
