Registered Nurse Oncology Infusion

DEPARTMENT: Oncology Infusion Center
HOURS: 0.7 FTE (56 hours per week)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct patient care in the Oncology Infusion Center. Monitors patients during treatments and infusions. Provides patient education on disease entities, chemotherapy and management of chemo related side effects. Communicates with the Oncology Infusion Center Coordinator, Medical Oncologist and the patient's physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including laboratory tests and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient's condition and response to treatment. Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current unrestricted Minnesota Registered Nurse license.
- Required to obtain the ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire and renew after two years.
- After a minimum of 2000 hours of adult oncology nursing practice, test to become certified as an Oncology Certified Nurse.
Must have strong problem-solving, organizational and good communication skills, positive attitude and ability to work well with others. Basic computer knowledge.
EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nurse with strong medical-surgical background. Previous oncology experience preferred.
