Position Summary:
As the RN Education Specialist, you will assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical and non-clinical educational programs for the Emergency Department. You will ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures and act as a master teacher and preceptor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify educational needs and practice gaps for staff by collecting data and related information
  • Develop instructional programs utilizing adult learning principles to meet goals and objectives
  • Analyze educational program evaluations and revise plans accordingly
  • Maintain and enhance the quality of instructional programs and effectiveness of the educator
  • Collaborate with professionals and stakeholders to facilitate practice and promote quality outcomes
  • Maintain documentation and records of instructional programs as required by hospital policy and regulatory agencies
  • Educate staff in the use of equipment, supplies, national standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform as staff imaging specialist in licensed discipline a minimum of one day per week
  • Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
  • 3 years directly related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days, Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification, PALS, ACLS & PALS INSTRUCTOR W/IN 6 MOS OF POSITION, CEVO Course within 3 months of position, Arterial Blood Gas course w/in 3 mos of position, UNMH basic arrhythmia course w/in 3 mos of position
  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work
  • Sig Haz: Physical risk/injuries due to combative patients, Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE, May be required or is required to perform on-call duties, May work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends
