Forklift Job Description - Grower Direct Farms:

Forklift Driver duties and responsibilities

A Forklift Driver is responsible for moving goods, loaded pallets and equipment safely and securely. In addition to driving forklifts, a Forklift Driver also has a range of other warehouse duties such as packaging shipments or checking inventories. A Forklift Driver's primary duties and responsibilities include:
  • Maneuvering forklifts safely in busy greenhouse environments
  • Successful completion of the training course specific to the application of the forklift here at Grower Direct Farms.
  • Safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets
  • Moving goods to/from specific areas of the building
  • Operators are responsible for adjusting the attachment that they are using specific to the product that they are moving.
  • Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas
  • Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions
  • Regularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damages
  • Using industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport
  • Keeping up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures
  • Consolidating partial pallets for incoming goods
  • Operators should have experience utilizing a standard 3-5K forklift prior to applying for this position.
Operators should possess the following qualities / skills:
  • At least 1 year of forklift operating experience or similar role
  • Operator should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
  • Candidate must be able to pass a general forklift knowledge exam
  • Operator must be able to understand tasks assigned in English
  • Candidate must adhere to all company safety policies
  • Candidate must be willing to stop and ask for help if the task is unclear
  • Operator must be able to perform any tasks assigned to them aside from operating the forklift
    1. This may include but not limited to the following:
      • Assisting shipping team with fulfilling orders
      • Assisting production team with duties inside production room
      • Assisting greenhouse team with any / all tasks inside the greenhouse
