Job Title: Community Partnership Liaison
Position Type: Full-Time
Vision: Using the whole-child approach, we aim to transform schools into neighborhood hubs where staff, outside organizations, families, and students work together to strengthen conditions for student learning and healthy development, focusing on academics, promoting a sense of belonging, health, social services, and community engagement. The Community Partnership Liaison will work collaboratively with school staff, community organizations, and local leaders to create a more inclusive, supportive, and connected school environment, fostering a strong sense of belonging and empowerment for all families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sense of Belonging for All Families, Communication & Support:
- Serve as the primary contact for families, offering support, guidance, and information regarding school policies, volunteer opportunities, programs, and resources.
- Assist families in navigating challenges that may impact their child's education, including academic struggles, behavioral concerns, and social-emotional needs.
- Partner with instructional staff and administration to coordinate, facilitate, and attend family engagement activities such as APTT, PAC, Individual Meetings, and other school events that encourage active participation.
- Ensure that school events are accessible, inclusive, and meet the diverse needs of all families.
- Act as an advocate for families, helping them access community resources, such as housing assistance, healthcare services, mental health resources, and after-school programs.
- Provide support and resources to non-English-speaking families, ensuring that all families have equal access to important information and opportunities.
- Develop and distribute school communications, including newsletters, flyers, and updates on upcoming events, to keep families informed and engaged.
- Work collaboratively with school administrators to create and maintain strong outreach programs for new and existing families.
- Empower parents to initiate and lead projects that foster belonging at school.
- Community Partnerships & Outreach:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to support school programs, student success, and family involvement.
- Coordinate community-based programs, such as tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment activities, to enhance the educational experience of students.
- Organize and manage community events and outreach activities, including back-to-school nights, family nights, volunteer initiatives, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations (flexibility to attend evening or weekend events).
- Advocate for the school's needs within the community, increasing awareness and support for the school and its programs.
- Work primarily within the school building but may also be expected to travel to homes to support families, to community locations to coordinate services, and to county or state events for professional development opportunities.
- Support and promote early literacy, math, social-emotional skills such as READY For Kindergarten, and School Readiness transition programs such as 5th and 8th grade level orientations.
- Data Tracking & Reporting:
- Track family and community engagement activities, collecting feedback and data to measure the effectiveness of family and community outreach efforts.
- Meet weekly to provide regular reports to school leadership on the progress of family engagement initiatives, outside partnerships, and student outcomes related to family involvement.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate ongoing professional development to build administrator, teacher, and staff capacity around the six key practices of the Community Schools strategy.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of community resources available to families and students, ensuring that information is easily accessible when needed.
- Organize and facilitate monthly School-Based Leadership Team (SBLT) meetings (families, students, staff, and outside organizations).
- Actively participate in monthly District PLC meetings and individual district support meetings.
- Actively participate in Chronic Absenteeism meetings.
- Conduct yearly Needs Assessments (by way of surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observations, etc.) to identify the needs of families, students, staff, and outside organizations.
- Develop and implement an Asset Map that includes current partners, potential partners, supports, services, values and strengths of the community, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree in social work, education, community outreach, or a related field preferred).
- Prior experience working in a family or community liaison role or a similar position in education or social services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Knowledge of community resources, local organizations, and support services available to families.
- Ability to communicate, build relationships, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including school staff, families, and community organizations. (eg. personal phone calls/emails/texts/in-person)
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A passion for supporting families and students, especially in underserved or marginalized communities.
- Is proactive and has the ability to work independently, with initiative, and as part of a team.
