Description
Our paint preppers are responsible for preparing sign components for final paint or the next step in the production process. Our team fabricates the signs for nationally recognized brands as well as custom projects, so we need versatile team members that can collaborate on large projects but also work independently to make independent decisions based on CAD drawings, industry best practices and other instructions provided.
Essential Functions

- Read and interpret technical instructions and drawings, determine painting requirements by studying specifications
- Sand raw materials (steel or aluminum) for painting.
- Mask areas not to be painted.
- Sprays primer to prep item for final paint.
- Measure and blend paints to match specific formulas, according to production drawings and customer specifications.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Safely secure and transport materials and finished good throughout the production area.
- Complete projects within production time goals and proactively communicate any foreseeable issues with supervisor.
- Track time and materials using company provided software.
- Maintain a clan and safe work environment.
- Follow procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals and waste.
- Participate in team and safety meetings
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Experience in metal paint.
- Experience in Production Environment.
- Experience prepping materials such as aluminum, steel, acrylic and vinyl for paint.
- Experience using hand sanders and power tools.
- Experience using spray guns.
- Knowledge of painting materials and techniques.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- 2+ years in a Sign Manufacturing environment.
