Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight We are actively looking for a skilled Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Responsible Engineer. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will collaborate with the Crew Systems and Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Lunar Permanence Teams to design, develop, perform analysis, procure/build, integrate, and test EVA products. Additional responsibilities include the development of training hardware to support mockups, Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing; and flight hardware for EVA Systems, microgravity and Lunar surface tools and interfaces, and EVA Concept of Operations (ConOps) development. A responsible engineer acts as a project engineer and subject matter expert (SME) in several sub-disciplines (e.g., Design, analysis) and is responsible for leading the detailed design, analysis, manufacture, test, and verification of EVA hardware. This includes guiding the design and analysis of the EVA hardware components and/or systems. A responsible engineer generally has a broad understanding of components, subsystems, and life cycles, with depth in one or more areas. EVA engineers will interface often with related systems and teams - primarily Environmental Control Life Support (ECLS), Human Integration, Electrical Power Subsystem, Safety, and Structural and Mechanisms) throughout the life cycle of the hardware development. Additionally, the responsible engineer may lead a small team, mentor early-career engineers, perform technical reviews, while providing support and resources as needed. Qualifications (required): Minimum of a B.S. degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or environmental engineering or related engineering field. 6+ years of technical experience in the design and analysis of space systems, preferably EVA, spacecraft, or landers, and experience in leading a cross-functional team and/or project. Experience across the product life cycle. Familiar with NASA, DOD, or other industry safety, reliability, and quality processes. Demonstrated ability to develop trades and metrics-driven data for quick decision-making and streamlined execution. Familiarity and experience with prototyping and design, experiment design, and test methods. Familiarity with CREO or other CAD tools. Experience working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects. History of developing solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteria. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Ability to effectively use oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial level. Desired: M.S. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline. Experience with research and development of one or more technologies relevant to EVA for extreme environments.
