Job Overview

Join Leidos as a Network Operations Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting the NMCI/SMIT program. This position involves providing network engineering support for a variety of initiatives, including planning, designing, and evaluating components of the Navy's NMCI network. Our team is dedicated to delivering the backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, which includes vital cybersecurity services and data transport, enabling the Navy to enhance its networks and improve service efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor incidents and events affecting server and service health across the Enterprise, documenting outages and actions taken for resolution.
  • Be a part of the Current Operations Watch team, ensuring multiple server solutions operate effectively, which is essential for our users' daily mission.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to relay critical information.
  • Utilize internal systems to report incidents to leadership for timely updates.
  • Manage escalations of significant alerts/events that require immediate attention.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments and triage on event impact and criticality, engaging necessary personnel for escalations outside the Operations Center.
  • Provide expert support to Site Operations and external organizations through strong problem resolution skills.
  • Respond promptly (within 5 minutes) to network infrastructure alerts of varying severity.
  • Keep the Critical Situation Manager informed about significant events or incidents.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • 8570 compliant, meeting the IAT level certification requirements.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices (ITIL Foundations).
  • Experience with tools used in Event Management, Incident Management, and Performance Management within an Enterprise setting.
  • Background in a DOD environment with an understanding of customer communication.
  • Experience working in a data center environment.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and assist end users effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with DoD networks, including NIPR and SIPR.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military service, especially USMC or USN IT experience, is a plus.
  • Experience with networking technologies and data centers.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and detail-oriented reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and improve processes proactively.
  • Competence in defining program goals and effectively managing project timelines.
  • Adept at collaborating within a matrix organization to resolve issues while communicating updates to teams and leadership.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing technical reports on analytics.

Shift Schedule: Shift 1: Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 0600 to 1800 EDT.

Hourly range for position: $25.00/hour - $32.00/hour, with final salary determined by experience, skills, and other relevant factors.

Location: This position is part of the NMCI program.
