Job Requirements

  • Assessment and Diagnosis:
    • Conducting thorough assessments to evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
    • Using standardized tests, clinical observations, and interviews with patients and their families to gather information.
  • Treatment Planning:
    • Developing individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient needs.
    • Setting specific goals and objectives to address communication or swallowing challenges.
  • Therapy and Intervention:
    • Providing therapy to improve speech articulation, language comprehension and expression, voice production, fluency, and cognitive-communication skills.
    • Using various techniques and exercises tailored to the needs and abilities of each patient.
  • Swallowing Disorders Management:
    • Assessing and treating swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) to improve safety and efficiency of swallowing function.
    • Recommending diet modifications and strategies to reduce the risk of aspiration.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, educators, and caregivers to coordinate treatment plans and ensure holistic care.
    • Providing guidance and education to families and caregivers on strategies to support communication development and therapy goals.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintaining detailed records of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
    • Writing formal reports to communicate assessment findings and treatment recommendations.
  • Research and Continuing Education:
    • Staying updated with advances in the field through research literature, conferences, and workshops.
    • Applying evidence-based practices in clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
  • Advocacy and Community Outreach:
    • Advocating for individuals with communication disorders to ensure access to appropriate services and resources.
    • Participating in community outreach programs to raise awareness about communication disorders and treatment options.
