Pay

This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 105.

Attendance

Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Sunday; must be available to work additional hours as needed. .

Overview

The Marina Dockhand I is primarily responsible for maintaining the routine cleanliness of the marina facilities and grounds. They will also perform preventive maintenance to facilities, docks, grounds, and marina equipment, and assist marina customers with docking and vessel sanitary pump outs. Dockhands will frequently interact with marina customers and the general public and must maintain a courteous attitude and willingness to provide assistance as needed. Additionally, they will assist with safety patrols during special events and help enforce marina regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties to Marina facilities and grounds and clean and restock bathrooms and public restrooms

• Perform ground maintenance and collect and empty trash receptacles within the Marina complex

• Remove trash from Marina waters within the immediate areas of the marina complex

• Operate various type of equipment to accomplish tasks such as golf carts, Kubota 4X4, weed eater, backpack blower, power washer, and other various types of hand tools

• Operate various types of tools such as electric drills, cordless drills, hammer drills, jig saw, cutting torch, band saw, chainsaw, hole saw, saw-zaw, hydraulic press, air nailer, air impact wrench, cable cutters, etc .

• Perform minor plumbing to facilities, dock, and piers, replace and repair PVC pipes, PVC fittings, water valves, sanitary hose lines, replace toilet flanges, etc .

• Utilize tools such as multi-voltage meter, wire cutters, pilers, etc.

• Use chemicals such as pipe cleaners, pipe glues, pipe fitting sealants, and acids

• Perform preventive maintenance to light fixtures

• Inspect all lubricates for correct levels, inspect all lighting, turn signals, and safety beacons for proper operations, and inspect wheels and tires for wear, damage and proper air pressure

• Assist with boat lift hoisting, provide rigging, blocking, and bracing of vessel on land

• Act as traffic safety control guide during craning operations

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED

• Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience

• First Aid and CPR certification required within six (6) months from date of hire

• Previous experience with building and/or grounds maintenance with skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical preferred

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
