Work Shift: Night

The Clinical Support Nurse (CSN) is responsible for providing expert consultation and leadership to Patient Care Services Staff in the Children's Hospital. The CSN's responsibilities include teaching and supporting staff to develop patient care skills, managing complex patient and system related issues, and providing direct care in selected complex patient care situations. Additionally, the CSN assists staff in developing clinical skills and problem-solving in complex patient care situations, as well as teaching and supporting staff in initiating access and managing intravascular therapy.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in specialty nursing
  • Manage complex patient and system related issues
  • Assist staff develop clinical skills and problem solve in complex patient care situations
  • Teach and support staff to initiate access and manage intravascular therapy
  • Provide direct care in selected complex patient care situations
  • Communicate effectively to reach consensual decisions with the care team in the best interest of the patient

Education/Experience:

  • Current NYS Nursing license; BSN preferred
  • Pediatric/Critical Care certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of recent acute care clinical experience in Pediatrics
