Hartford, United States Connecticut Children's Full time
Job Description

Position Summary

Connecticut Children's is the only freestanding pediatric health care system in the state of Connecticut, and has consecutively received the Women's Choice Award as the best children's hospital in the nation for the last seven years. Our institution promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and highlights the value of patient and family-centered care.

The Cardiovascular Institute at Connecticut Children's provides expert care and services to pediatric and adult patients in New England. Our institute boasts an established Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) program, a robust pediatric cardiology group, cardio-oncology clinic, fetal cardiology program, multiple cardiac interventionists, an expert cardiothoracic surgeon, electrophysiologists, a state of the art hybrid catheterization lab, and an impressive noninvasive imaging program including MRI and CT. Our Cardiovascular Institute and ACHD team seek to welcome a passionate BC/BE ACHD cardiologist as a fulltime faculty appointment within our division.

Since 2018, our ACHD program established its status as a nationally accredited comprehensive care center through the Adult Congenital Heart Association. The program is supported by 3 established ACHD physicians, including the ACHD Medical Program Director, an advanced practice provider, 2 dedicated nurses, and an administrative program coordinator. This cardiologist can expect to work closely with the Cardiovascular Institute division chief, the ACHD Medical Program Director, and institution leadership to support expansion of our already vibrant ACHD program, as patient volume continues to grow.

Our ACHD team employs a multi-collaborative approach involving various specialties within Connecticut Children's and Hartford Healthcare, our adult partner in providing quality ACHD care. This includes partnerships with hepatology, maternal fetal medicine, adult cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and transplant services. This cardiologist can anticipate delivering excellent ACHD care with the ability to offer hepatic screenings for Fontan patients, non-invasive imaging, surgical and cardiac catheterization interventions, pregnancy management and delivery planning, as well as management of arrhythmias and cardiac devices, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and inpatient care at both institutions.

Along with faculty appointment at Connecticut Children's, this cardiologist will gain academic rank commensurate with experience and qualifications at the University of Connecticut. Professional development and academic enrichment are encouraged by our team and institution. In this faculty appointment, aspirations to cultivate advances in medicine and research will be fostered with inspiration and support.

Hartford County is the perfect area to establish roots, explore quaint areas, and see unforgettable fall foliage. Our ACHD team has a shared commitment and goal to provide quality care to our patients and their families in a warm collegial atmosphere. Our ACHD team strives to create innovations in research, develop new interventions and technologies, and cultivate advances in cardiac care and medicine for all patients with congenital heart disease. We strongly encourage physicians who embrace these values to apply to join our ACHD team.
