Speech-Language Pathologist Full-time (36-40 hours/week), weekday shifts. The speech-language pathologist works to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, augmentative alternative communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. Provides services for inpatients and outpatients, including evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care.Responsible for following current policies and procedures in the Rehabilitation department. Complies with patient billing and insurance policies. Completes initial evaluations and progress notes in a timely manner. Assists and communicates with department manager, providers, and multidisciplinary staff. Functions as a patient advocate, particularly in dealing with other health care providers, and physicians. Works cooperatively with all staff including providers, nursing staff, social worker, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare staff. Provides patient care and communication with other departments within the organization. Requirements Requires a Master's in Speech Pathology, as well as a current license with the North Dakota State Board of Examiners on Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. CPR certification. One year of experience in speech pathology is preferred. Must possess hearing ability sufficient to evaluate patient's speech. Must be able to produce appropriate written/dictated patient documentation of patient encounters.Must possess excellent communication skills in order to explain/direct treatment plans.Must be able to interact with patients and families in a positive manner. Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities Performs speech therapy evaluations and creates safe treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs. Implements treatment plans and modifies the plan of care based on the patient's response to the established intervention. Evaluates patients' swallowing ability and prescribes an appropriate diet. Educates family members or caregivers, as well as other professionals on treatment plans. Collaborates with other members of the care team. Conducts research to develop new treatment methods. Accurately and effectively documents patient's evaluations and diagnoses. Completes progress notes, document changes in condition or treatment plan, and completes discharge summaries according to regulatory guidelines. Other Duties Complies with state, Medicare, and insurance rules and regulations. Maintains professional standards by participating in in-services and committees. Obtain adequate continuing education units for state licensure.
