Job Description
As part of the drafting and pre-construction teams, a Architectural Drafter drafts homeowner and inventory homes for both multi-family townhomes and single-family detached site-specific homes. Drafters are primarily responsible for owning the accuracy of templates, drawing lot specific homeowner plans and inventory homes, maintaining the detail library, creating lot fit guides and community launch responsibilities, and completing fix-its within the change management process. Drafters must be able to work on multiple projects at one time, prioritizing and ensuring all timelines are met for all projects being worked on.
Primary Duties
- A drafter is responsible for preparing and maintaining thorough and accurate working drawings. They are responsible for efficient and well-designed, accurate and up to code home templates and homeowner plans.
- A drafter will ensure all drafting is within established timelines and impeccable accuracy utilizing drafting checklists and ensuring city specific requirements & community requirements are implemented in the plan set.
- A drafter will regularly visit the field to walk the new product and homes under construction. They will speak to construction managers and trades to solicit feedback on plans and details and request ways drafting can make the plans better and more efficient.
- A drafter will make sure all needed city corrections are updated and returned to the city within 24 hours. They are also responsible to ensure the details that are requested by the field get drawn and out to the team efficiently and effectively.
- Drafters must regularly refresh sales and marketing exhibits and bid sets to ensure accuracy to sales, estimating and marketing teams.
- A drafter is responsible for their drawings and should take pride in their work by self-redlining and highlighting changes before passing drawings off to others.
- Drafters in the drafting department will follow and execute the fix it program which fixes both templates and in-process drawings with any errors or updated submitted to the fixit process.
- A drafter should draft templates, plans, and options per the direction of the Product team. Drafters should never change options or templates without specific instructions to do so. This is to create consistency and operational excellence of a production home builder.
- Qualified applicants must have experience in residential drafting with efficiency in AutoCAD. Successful candidates should be pro-active, very organized, and focused on precision & accuracy.
- Drafting Degree or Equivalent on job experience
- Direct use of and proficiency using Autodesk AutoCAD
- Experience and understanding with compiling drawings to complete projects
- Within 3 months or already demonstrates a knowledge of and or experience with compiling residential drawing packages that incorporate standard and internal requirements
- A drafter should never be defensive of feedback to the plans and is always open to new ways to do things
- This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in/around construction site, apartment homes, models, and properties
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 25 lbs. independently.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting
