What You Can Expect

As a Door Painter / Prefinisher, you will be responsible for staining and/or painting doors, frames, and casing for customer orders to fulfill customer order dates. You will also provide support to the team as needed by assisting in prepping, packaging, loading, and offloading doors. You will be a key member of our Pre-Finish team and will report directly to the department Operations Manager.

Your duties include:
  • Perform pre-finishing duties including preparing surfaces for spray operations, applying stain and sealant, drying, and bundling materials for shipping.
  • Read work orders and pulls needed materials to complete the job. Informs lead or management of material shortages.
  • Check all work order dates prior to painting; prioritize based on customer due dates, or as instructed
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality adheres to company standards prior to shipping.
  • Oversee disposal of flammable, toxic chemical (rags and filters) and other debris per safety/ hazardous materials requirements; ensures that workshop is kept clean and orderly.
  • Understand and observes all safety procedures and practices and oversees the activities of other employees to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Prior to painting each morning, ensure the booth is clean and free of dust.
  • Select the correct colors per work order and test the color prior to painting the entire product.
  • Clean out the paint pumps thoroughly prior to applying any new colors.
  • Clean all the painting systems, spray guns and any other equipment and tools at the end of the shift.
  • Double-check the materials prior to painting to ensure all scratches, dents and holes have been repaired.
  • Be compliant with fire and safety regulations in the warehouse area. Ensures that warehouse
  • operations are completed in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the prefinishing and paint area.
  • Other duties as needed
What background will make you successful?
  • You have your high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience prefinishing and painting wood with an air spray gun
  • Knowledge of wood doors, door hardware parts, and materials
  • Knowledge of the different characteristics of soft and hard wood and impacts of pre-finish/paint
  • Ability to perform physical work (e.g., lifting product up to 50 lbs.)
  • Comfortable working in a painting and warehouse environment (fumes, heat, cold conditions)
  • You are self-motivated and also enjoy working in a team environment
  • Solid work ethic, willingness to learn and grow, and a positive attitude
  • Safety is important to you
  • Advanced trades school training/education in woodworking or painting (preferred)

The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location.
