The Registered Dental Hygienist provides ongoing preventive oral care through conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy to prevent periodontal gum disease.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical hygiene functions including, but not limited to: exposing/evaluating x-rays, oral cancer screening, prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, fluoride treatments
- Educates patients on the importance of preventive care, the disease process and the role of bacteria, provides appropriate instructions on home care
- Maintain accurate complete digital documentation
- Sterilizes dental instruments properly
- Maintains patient confidentiality and takes every precaution to secure electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA
- Other related duties as assigned
- Professional and friendly with great chair side manner
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and changes
- Knowledge of cross contamination and how to prevent it
- Maintain continuing education courses
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
- CPR and First Aid certificate
- Registered Dental Hygienist License
- Licenses required for this position must be kept current, valid, and in good standing with the presiding entity.
