About the Role:

The role of OSP Foreman is responsible for managing and supervising all ongoing construction projects. In addition to ensuring safety rules are followed at all times, they develop work schedules based upon the availability of employees or contractors and weather conditions. OSP Foreman are responsible for sourcing supplies needed for repairs and delivering materials within time limits, to ensure they do not run out before completing a project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
  • Training, managing, and mentoring employees and contractors.
  • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures
  • Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
  • Call in locates and Conduct deployments.
  • Occasionally conduct mechanical tasks
  • Fill in field positions when necessary.
  • Customer Contact, which sometimes involves disgruntled customers.
  • Manage projects with STS (Sub Terra)
  • File daily production reports and vehicle inspections.
  • File all damage and incident reports.
  • File receipts for Mainstream Fiber Networks and sister company STS (Sub Terra)
  • Complete in-field decisions and changes as needed.
  • Coordinate tasks between the four divisions of OSP (which are splicing, aerial, underground, and drop)
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Key Qualifications:
  • HSD, or equivalent education, is required.
  • 2-4 years’ experience as construction or outside plant foreman, or similar role
  • Valid Drivers’ Licenses, required.
  • OSHA, CPR, or CDL certification/licenses, preferred.
  • Able to oversee all operations at a worksite and ensure a safe work environment.
  • An in-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand drawings and blueprints.
  • Expert knowledge of the construction industry
Additional Notes:
  • This position may require being on-call. Employees will respond to emergency calls between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This position may require weekend work, night work, and/or overnight travel.
  • This position does require travel to different counties throughout Indiana.
  • This position is performed in the field both outdoor and indoor conditions daily.
