Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who can adapt quickly in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with exceptional leadership skills to drive strategy and financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record driving both external-facing investor relation activities along with internal-facing financial planning & analysis activities and controls, including ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements.
As a member of HiFiBiO executive leadership, the CFO will have accountability for financial decision-making, investment advice and guidance, including at the Board of Director level. The candidate will operate across global (U.S., China, France) financial operations, assess financial implications for strategic decisions, and partner with BD to identify opportunities to drive growth. Ideally, the candidate will have IPO experience.
The candidate is expected to be a role model for HiFiBiO's core values and SOAR culture - Supportive, Optimistic, Adaptive, and Responsible. This full-time position is based in Cambridge, MA, reporting directly to the company CEO.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize the organization's fundraising plans and capital structure by leading financing efforts, through private investments or public offerings, strategizing ways to secure capital for research, development, and growth
  • Oversee global financial strategy, long-term budgetary planning, and cost management in alignment with the company's strategic objectives
  • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash, equity, and liquidity risks
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports, analysis, and decision support to the CEO, Boad of Directors, and management team on investment, cost, forecasting, resource allocation, and other decisions for organizational financial health
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization's research & development and operations
  • Ensure financial controls, compliance, and timely and accurate financial reporting, consistent with US GAAP, state, and local reporting requirements and regulatory authorities
  • Evaluate and consistently improve financial systems, processes, and policies to fit current needs and maximize return on investment
  • Lead team of finance personnel (controllers, accountants, financial analysts, etc.)
  • Provide active, hands-on leadership as a member of the executive leadership team by proactively communicating and developing talent across the global organization

Qualifications and Skills
  • 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles having demonstrated global finance, accounting, and team leadership experience in biological sciences or other health-related fields
  • Proven experience as CFO, finance officer or relevant role, with executive presence and ability to successfully interact at the Board of Director level
  • Ability to build trust with the investment communityby engaging with and influencing key investors and potential partners
  • Successful track record in corporate finance, capital market access, valuation, fundraising, and corporate accounting
  • Experienced in clinical trial forecasting, critical analysis, and long-term financial outcome evaluation
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communications, people skills, and ability to motivate and inspire people and teams globally
  • Experience having led the financial analysis and due diligence process for a successful initial public offering (IPO) preferred
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA or CPA is preferred
