Summary

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture, and implementation of technology solutions to support the enterprise infrastructure of an organization. They ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new technologies and system requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in customer facing roles and success leading deep technical architecture discussions with senior customer executives, Enterprise Architects, IT Management and Developers to drive core infrastructure solutions and Datacenter migrations. You will also serve as an escalation point for Microsoft Azure client support tickets. As a senior US Cloud engineer, additional duties may include mentorship, leading training sessions, and serving others.
  • Analyze existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization.
  • Analyze business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions and document solution designs, including logical and physical designs
  • Serve as the primary point person for the technical solution design and delivery of infrastructure platform solutions related to cloud, server, network, storage, virtualization, data center, backups, application delivery, data protection, and access management
Lead Design and Review of New Systems
  • Lead the design and review processes for new systems
  • Develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new hardware or platform, working across the IT departments
  • Create detailed plans for the integration of new systems architecture into existing infrastructure
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering
  • Hands-on experience with the following
    • Cloud Design Concepts and Implementation
    • On-Premises connections to Cloud Environments (Azure)
      • Networking - VPN/Site to Site / Cloud Based Networking - Express Route / Direct
      • User Access Control & Security - Familiarity with Okta and Azure Active Directory a plus
    • Workload migrations to Azure cloud
    • Supporting and configuration of IaaS and PaaS
    • Experience in automation solutions
      • Terraform
      • Security Automation
    • Configuration and Managing Monitoring Solutions
      • Cloud Provider Based - Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, and 3rd party solutions
  • Must have experience with LARGE Data centers and technology transformation projects
  • Apply technical knowledge and customer insights to create a modernization roadmap and architect solutions to meet business and IT needs, ensuring technical viability of new projects and successful deployments, orchestrating key resources and infusing key infrastructure technologies (e.g. Windows and Linux IaaS, SAP, BCDR, Security, Management, Storage, Networking)
  • Working knowledge of and management skills for the cloud, server, network, storage, virtualization, data center, backups, end-user devices, application delivery, data protection, backups, middleware, and access management
  • Skills analyzing application dependency across multiple servers
  • Strong technical understanding of migration of applications and servers to new technologies and environments
  • Proven experience in migration Windows and Linux servers to Azure
  • Proven experience with backup and migration tools: Commvault, ASR and PowerShell
  • AWS migration experience a plus
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certification preferred, not required
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2008 through Windows Server 2019 required
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies: Server, Active Directory, Identity and Authentication, SSO/Federation, AD/Azure AD
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies including Hyper-V and VMWare required

  • Bachelors' degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A strong leader and communicator
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices
  • Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Deep domain expertise of cloud infrastructure solutions (i.e. Windows and Linux IaaS, SAP, BCDR, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, OSS, containers and Infra as a code technologies), breadth of technical experience, and technical aptitude to learn and adjust to new technologies and cloud trends required
  • Assess the Customers' knowledge of Azure platform and overall cloud readiness to support customers through a structured learning plan and ensure its delivery through partners
  • Ability to quickly identify customer issues to specific Azure Services or Azure Platform; and being able to conduct in-depth diagnostics on Azure platform and services and be able to work with Engineering group effectively
  • Develop tools, scripts to automate troubleshooting activities and explorer diagnostic opportunity on Tenant based monitoring/alerts
