JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy

Minimum Work Experience: 2+ years related experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Required Licenses / Certifications: Current Pharmacist License for State of Idaho Controlled Substance Registration - State of Idaho. BLS

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures & government regulations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, algebra. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Must have excellent computer skills. Must have ability to get along with others. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasional lift up to 50 pounds

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals. Prepares and maintains all necessary records on prescriptions, patient charges and inventory, and provides information to the hospital staff members on drugs and pharmaceuticals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides hospital staff, patients, private citizens, etc. education on pharmaceuticals. Reviews prescriptions issued by appropriately licensed practitioners to ensure accuracy and determine formulae and ingredients needed. Perform clinical evaluation of patient medications, as needed. Compounds medications, using standard formulae and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Directs other pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, externs, and other ancillary personnel in the mixing, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals. Helps maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of outdated & hazardous waste drugs. Enters appropriate information to maintain medication profiles, pharmacy charges, and inventory. Assess medication packaging to determine identity, purity and strength. Instructs interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy. Must be able to use horizontal and/or vertical flow hoods and glove boxes for mixing sterile parenteral products. Must be able to use weight balance scale to measure powders. Must also be able to use graduated cy linders, flasks, etc. Bariatric Sensitivity Training Competency Completed. Provides care to bariatric patients.
