POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of the Director of Support Services, a building Custodian's responsibilities include adhering to Federal, State and District policies and procedures control. Comply with Federal, State, and District polices on Background Checks; Child Maltreatment check. All Custodial Staff are expected to display a good attitude with fellow employees, respect for co-workers and superiors, a friendly smile when working around and dealing with children, patience and kindness when dealing with problems relating to children and adults, desire to do a good job, willingness to learn and try new thing, ability to follow directions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General duties of the Custodian are to create a safe, warm and dry environment of all assigned areas. Routine work includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Tasks required to maintain the cleanliness, good order, sanitary and safety of all areas in and around the assigned buildings.
- Custodial staff must be capable of working reliably and independently to carry out assigned tasks and comply with work schedules.
- Be able to perform first aid and other procedures as job demands
- To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee's supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competency Statements
Knowledge of the JSD policies and procedures
Education
Minimum of high school diploma or GED with an accredited educational institution and job related training.
Attend all required in-service training
Other Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Federal, State and District requirements
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations appropriately to meet job expectations.
Effective communication skills
May be required to work around moving mechanical parts
Exposure to dust and chemicals
