Job Summary

As a Commercial Truck Driver, you'll play a vital role in delivering packages efficiently, safely, and on schedule. This position requires you to be flexible, as you will also assist in our warehouse operations when not on the road. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, during first shift hours.

Essential Functions

  • Perform all duties in accordance with Patterson Companies' code of conduct and business ethics.
  • Drive assigned commercial vehicle, ensuring timely delivery and pick-up of shipments.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customer service, addressing and resolving customer issues.
  • Collect payments from customers as needed.
  • Load and unload your vehicle, ensuring all shipments are secure for transport.
  • Operate warehouse equipment and machinery safely.
  • Meet assigned performance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Help maintain an organized, secure, and clean work environment for both the warehouse and vehicles.
  • Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials as per company procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure routine maintenance is performed on your vehicle consistently.
  • Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal motor carrier laws.
  • Complete necessary daily, weekly, and monthly compliance reporting.
  • Assist in daily warehouse operations as required.

Additional Functions

  • Manage your time effectively to meet both personal and team goals.
  • Complete all work according to company safety guidelines, including training and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and uphold a valid driver's license.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • CDL Class A license with Hazmat endorsement; must drive vehicles up to 80k GVWR.
  • Maintain any additional required endorsements (e.g., airbrakes, tanker).
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to safely operate assigned vehicles.
  • Keen knowledge of the delivery area and map reading skills.
  • Proficient as part of a team and capable of problem-solving.
  • Strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience as a CDL driver is preferred.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds; team lifts for heavier loads.
  • Continuous physical activity with significant movement required.
  • Utilize pallet jacks to move loads weighing up to 2,500 lbs.
  • Load and unload products from vehicles efficiently.

Environmental Factors

  • Working primarily inside the assigned vehicle.
  • Utilization of electronic driver logs as necessary.
  • Handling general warehouse equipment and office tools.

Travel and On-call Requirements

  • May require occasional overnight delivery runs.
