Laboratory Assistant (PRN)- ICON- US- San Antonio TX

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our diverse and dynamic team at ICON at our San Antonio TX site in a PRN (as needed) capacity. The Laboratory Assistant aids the technical staff with the handling and storing of and accounting for biological lab specimens, quality control and any other relevant tasks.

Title: Laboratory Assistant/Sample Processor

Location: On-Site San Antonio TX

Job Type: PRN (as needed)

  • Desired schedule: Weekends (shift varies depending on business need at the time)
  • There is a required 4-week training that runs M-F (4-6 hours)
What you will be doing:
  • Monitoring samples/Troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • Consolidating created samples/containers (i.e. slides, blocks, reports, etc.)
  • Searching and retrieving documents and samples.
  • Performing data entry/Monitoring e-mails and various correspondences.
  • Checking that slides/blocks are properly barcoded and labeled.
  • Assisting the pathologists with the technical/clerical work.
Your profile:
  • You will possess a bachelor's degree (preferred) along with 1 year of related experience in a Clinical Laboratory.
  • You will have basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office along with excellent written/verbal communication skills, the ability to handle large workload demands and trouble shoot issues timely when required
  • Exhibit appropriate time management skills and attention to detail
  • Must have experience clinical laboratory sample processing experience.
  • Ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GCP/GLP/GDP.
