JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Designer produces designs and develops new products using sound engineering principles. They propose modifications and solutions to problems with existing products. They create bills of material, engineering change notices and other documents as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model mechanical and structural design concepts using Parametric 3D software.
  • Produce detail drawings for new and existing components in accordance with company drafting standards.
  • Prepare ECN, bills of material and assembly drawings.
  • Create sketches, views or images for bulletins and other technical documents.
  • Performs a preliminary self-check of design produced prior to submitting them to the engineers for approval.
  • Create tolerance stack up studies and perform design checks.
  • Perform design calculations.
  • Check drawings produced by other designers and drafters.
  • Provide technical support to Operations, Quality, Manufacturing and Marketing.
  • Interface with vendors and provide technical support.
  • Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Senior Product Designer, on large projects, may lead a team of designers and drafters. They will be responsible for working with the engineers to define the system, distributing the workload for designers and drafters, work with project managers to maintain the timelines and keep an overview of the entire system making sure it meets requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology with a minimum of 8 years design experience or
  • Associate degree in engineering technology with a minimum of 12 years of design experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write in English.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers, and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • As per engineering technology associate degree requirements.
REASONING ABILITY

COMPUTER SKILLS
  • SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD

  • SOLIDWORKS CSWP certification preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
