Interventional Radiologic Tech- PRN

The Interventional Radiologic Tech will perform high quality interventional procedures and diagnostic exams while providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications:
Minimum Work Experience
1 year Clinical Interventional experience in a hospital environment (Preferred)
Required Licenses and Certifications
ARRT or Equivalent (Required)
Functional Accountabilities
Performance of Special Imaging Procedures
- Direct and control the flow of patients.
- Serve as department liaison with nursing service and anesthesia.
- Perform daily quality control testing of equipment specific to interventional radiology.
- Understand and perform all aspects of neuro, vascular and non-vascular interventional exams.
- Assist interventional physicians as directed and in the diagnostic area when necessary.
- Schedule exams as required.
- Assure permanent film identification by using lead markers.
- Identify each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data.
- Follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut-down of equipment.
- Check paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and complete RIS assignments immediately following exam.
- Ensure cleanliness of exams rooms and equipment by all personnel.
- Assume Quality Assurance responsibilities to assist technologists and radiologists in determining acceptability of images.
- Greet patients respectfully, introduces self to patient and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner.
- Assure room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam.
- Explain exam to patients/parents.
- Make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests.
- Communicate with patient throughout the exam and release patient/parent with appropriate follow-up info.
- Present a neat and professional image via appropriate dress and grooming.
- Equally share on-call responsibilities with all interventional technologists
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations.
- Inquire about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy for female adolescents and teens.
- Shield patients whenever possible.
- Practice personal radiation safety .
- Ensure Time Outs are conducted prior to start of procedure.
- Train and orient new technologists within the Modality .
- Troubleshoot equipment and computer issues in conjunction with Radiology Manager and IT staff.
- Ensure all staff comply with departmental requirement for use of personal protection equipment and monitoring (lead Aprons, gloves and wearing film badge).
- Maintain A.R.R.T . certification.
- Biennially update CPR certification.
- Complete mandatory annual reviews.
- Attend seminars and in-services.
