Internship Program Overview:

Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you'll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.

Summary of Role:

As a TCAD student intern at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, you'll engage in hands-on TCAD engineering, leveraging advanced device development applications to deliver solutions across diverse technology nodes and fabs.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Provide TCAD support for various technology architectures, including advanced non-volatile memory (NVM) devices, FinFET, SOI, and bulk CMOS devices.
  • Utilize commercial simulation software to model semiconductor front end of line process flows and project electrical performance.
  • Develop TCAD models to simulate key physical interactions and phenomena, enabling the prediction and optimization of semiconductor device behavior.
  • Collaborate with Device, Process Integration, and Design teams to identify simulations that highlight critical process-design interactions.
  • Engage with local and global teams, presenting work in program review meetings and task forces.
  • Utilize AI/ML to enhance TCAD capabilities for faster and more accurate simulations.


Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education - Actively pursuing a Master's, or PhD in in physics, electrical engineering, materials science or related field.
  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
  • Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during the internship.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior related internship or co-op experience
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and statistics.
  • Basic data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience or interest with device simulations tools such as TCAD.
  • Aptitude and desire for learning new skills/techniques.
  • Proficient in any scripting & automation languages is a plus
  • Good communication skills in English.
