Lead ED Technologist, Emergency DepartmentReq #:46365 Category:Emergency Tech/EMT Status:Full-Time Shift:Day Facility:RWJ Rahway Department:Emergency Department Location: RWJUH Rahway Hospital, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065 Job Overview: The Lead Emergency Department Tech is a professional individual who is responsible for departmental administrative duties as designated by the Emergency Department Director. The Lead ED Tech provides care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Medical Assistant certification, EMT certification or previous experience Satisfactory completion of the Clinical Care Partner Skill Program or successful passing of the Clinical Care Partner Skills Challenge Examination on orientation BLS Certification through American Heart Association only Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English Preferred: 3-5 years ED Technician experience Certifications and Licenses: BLS certification through American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements: Days Every other weekend required, schedule during the week will vary based on department needs Full-Time (40 hrs) Mandatory Orientation Essential Functions: These duties include collection of schedule availability from all emergency department technicians, ordering, organization and maintenance of unit specific supplies to facilitate patient treatment and flow through the department. Act as a preceptor and mentor to ensure consistency and continuity of departmental patient care and flow expectations. Assist with staff development and in promoting an organizational culture that fosters teamwork. Demonstrates a strong ability to collaborate with ED Team leaders to identify, analyze and effectively solve conflict resolutions. Effectively encourages open communications with staff members to achieve mutual understandings and cooperative behavioral team efforts. In addition to the above stated role, the ED Lead Tech will also function as part of the ED Tech staff and will adhere to the below stated standards. Assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for his/her own professional advancement. Responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments, i ,e,; damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas and medical errors. Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Communicates effectively and collaborates with nurses and other patient care providers. The ED Tech as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team member integrating all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patients needs.
