The Lead Software Engineer ("LSE") is a hands-on leader of a full-stack software engineering team, with approximately a quarter of the LSE's time to be spent leading the team and three quarters on designing and implementing applications. The candidate must be highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and expertise in software development technologies and methodologies.
The LSE must be able to direct, design and implement solutions in a timely manner, with minimal supervisory guidance. The LSE will lead design sessions between the business and technology stakeholders to elicit business requirements. The LSE must also enforce software development standards and methodologies defined by enterprise architecture and software engineering leadership. The LSE must have a strong understanding of testing methodologies and be able to work with business stakeholders and test automation engineers to design test cases and evaluate test results. In addition, the LSE should have strong coaching and mentoring skills to train less experienced software engineers.

Team Management
- 8+ years of experience building, motivating and mentoring teams of software engineers and leading digital transformations.
- Experience working with business unit heads and other stakeholders to identify and implement application solutions to meet their operational needs.
- Proven ability to lead software engineers in cross functional teams, consisting of other software engineers, quality assurance and test automation engineers, business analysts and project managers to complete deliverables on schedule.
- Experience in working with enterprise architects, solution architects and infrastructure engineers to design, implement and deliver end-to-end software solutions to business problems.
- Experience in conducting effective code reviews and design reviews of team members.
- Ability to work well with and lead vendors/contractors on-shore, off-shore and near-shore.
- Position is hybrid and requires the ability and willingness to commute at least three (3) days per week
- Sound verbal and written communication skills to address associates at all levels of the organization, including the executive level.

- Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills by analyzing complex issues, devising innovative solutions and guiding the team.
- Proficiency in Systems Architecture and Application Design.
- Expertise in understanding the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including a proven ability to work with a project from inception to delivery and support.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with C# and expertise in at least one Microsoft application development framework such as .NET 8.
- Expertise in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise in at least one agile development methodology.
- 5+ years of proficiency with at least one UI framework such as Blazor, MVC .NET or Angular.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, SSMS and standard query languages (SQL).
- Expertise with a DAL Framework, such as Entity Framework.
- Expertise in at least one DevOps tool, such as Microsoft DevOps.
- Expertise with GIT source control and GIT workflows.
- Proficiency in implementing solutions with Azure Cloud products (e.g., Azure Functions).
- Proficiency in the use and implementation of design patterns, with the ability to implement business logic in a middle tier, using design patterns and web services, as necessary.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing REST APIs for back-end web services and a knowledge of designing and building Process and Experience APIs.
- Experience using feature management and API versioning.
- Proven ability to implement relational database models.
- Proven ability to write parameterized unit tests with dependency injection and mock objects and implementing full integration/regression test suites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office tools and Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Required: A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information science or other applicable technical degree with at least 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer.
- Certification with Microsoft Azure is a plus.
- Property/Casualty insurance expertise is a plus.
